With the title “Phendimetrazine” Hirst refers to the substances that the chemical industry uses in the production of paints. Hirst’s first “spot painting” was made during his studies in 1986 at the London Goldsmiths College and since 1988 the spots have been an important topic in his work, the “Pharmaceutical series”, the first and most significant episode. In the grid-like combination of round colour spots, he uses each tone only once.

Signed and numbered with round blindstamp; sold unframed in excellent condition.
